Privacy & Cookie Policy

This policy explains how J Matthews Plumbing & Gas Louth (“we”), run by Josh Matthews at 34 Brackenborough Rd, Louth LN11 0AE, uses information about people who visit this website or contact us. We are the data controller for that information.

Information we collect

  • When you contact us. If you phone or message us on WhatsApp, we receive your phone number and anything you tell us, such as your address and details of the job. We use this only to reply, quote, carry out the work and keep records we are legally required to keep, such as gas safety records and invoices.
  • Website analytics. If you accept cookies, we use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they look at and whether they tap the call or WhatsApp buttons. This does not tell us who you are. If you reject cookies, Google Analytics runs without cookies and only sends limited, anonymous information.
  • Hosting. Our website host, Vercel, keeps short-lived server logs (including IP addresses) to run and secure the site.

Cookies

We only set analytics cookies after you click Accept. These are Google Analytics cookies named _ga and _ga_*, which last up to two years. We do not use advertising cookies. Your choice is saved in your browser so we don't ask on every visit.

Legal basis

We handle enquiry and customer information to take steps towards, and carry out, a contract with you, and to meet legal obligations. We use analytics cookies only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the button above.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your information. It is shared only with services that help us run the business, such as Google (analytics), Vercel (hosting) and WhatsApp, if you message us there. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don't lead to work are deleted when no longer needed. Customer and job records, including gas safety records and invoices, are kept for as long as the law requires, typically up to six years. Analytics data is kept for 14 months.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. To do so, call us on 07935 274913 or write to the address above. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
